March 2017 Gardening Advice
Spring is really starting to show this month, The daffodils are out and buds are just starting to show on some of the deciduous hedges. Have you noticed there’s a considerable amount of weeds in some of the border’s? We call them winter weeds. Those pesky weeds have been growing on and off throughout the winter and now is the time to get rid of them before they get out of hand! The RHS website recommends to start hoe and mulching weeds early, so your garden can look neat and tidy ready for spring.
It’s also a good idea to start mowing your lawn on dry days. Unfortunately it has been very wet recently but hopefully there is a few dry spells in sight for this month. Remember not to cut your grass too short on the first cut of the season. Before you consider cutting your lawn take a look at our recent post regarding servicing your lawnmower before spring.
Perennials that become too large can be split and divided before spring. Dividing perennials is vital for plant health.
